Smiths Indeed was a fanzine dedicated to The Smiths edited and designed by Mark Taylor. It ran for twelve issues from 1986-1989. The zine has since become legend, and during the time of its publication it served as the de facto international Smiths fan forum. It is also the closest thing that existed to an “official” Smiths zine, as Morrissey invited readers of the zine to participate in the filming of the “Stop Me If You Think That You’ve Heard This One Before” music video. The zine itself was put together entirely by Mark Taylor in his bedroom in Bristol, where he hand folded and stapled all 1000 copies of Issue One.
In issue 6, winter 1987, Smiths Indeed t shirts were offered for sale via mail order, limited to an edition of only 20 shirts. They have since become probably the rarest of Smiths related t shirts.
I have meticulously recreated the shirt, as close to the original as possible with imagery pulled directly from the original sources, and print measurements matched to an original tee. Through reverse engineering, I have also ensured that I have printed these in the exact same method as the originals, also using soft and breathable water-based inks.
Special thanks to The Smiths Museum and Cris Hyde for assistance on this design.
